Cautious optimism for Thailand, one of travellers’ best loved international destinations, from Italy and beyond.

“The uncertainty of international scenarios can have an impact on the desire to travel,” comments Sandro Botticelli, Marketing Manager of the National Tourism Board for Thailand. "We’re pleased to have already seen the number of monthly arrivals from the Italian market quadruple within just a few months, from 500 in 2021 to nearly 2,000 in recent months. We’re looking forward to soon being able to announce the cancellation of the day of quarantine and PCR test on arrival, this could be the real and long-awaited news in 2022 we may be able announce it at BIT.”

And, speaking of news at the exhibition, “over the last few days an agency specialised in gaming has been developing an interactive game completely dedicated to Thailand that we’re presenting as a preview at the next BIT in Milan. Through the game we’ll play with our visitors both on the Sunday dedicated to the B2C audience and the following two days with our trade friends. Our national airline Thai Airways will offer two airline tickets to the two gamers who get the highest score. Just a few more days of being patient and we’ll be able to unveil the details of the interactive game we’re hoping will become a main attraction for the next tourism fair.”

In recent years, Thailand has emerged in as one of the most thoughtful destinations in terms of sustainable and responsible travel, particularly in the country's wilder north. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sukhothai is a real surprise for lovers of culture and ancient ruins, but also of nature and active getaways: the Historical Park is easily accessed by bicycle. Waterfalls, caves, mountains and vast biodiversity can be seen in the area's two national parks, Satchanalai National Park and Ramkhamhaeng National Park.
